Trustees have a legal responsibility for reporting serious incidents but may not be clear on what falls within the definition of a serious incident.
The Charity Commission have updated their guidance on ‘How to report a serious incident in your charity’. The guidance calls for ‘prompt, full and frank’ disclosure of the incident and how it is being dealt with.
The guidance covers both criminal and safeguarding incidents and includes example of reportable and non-reportable incidents.
