Three Peaks challenge raises over £1,000 for Macmillan

Moore and Smalley’s Mike Hardaker was among a group of seven local professionals who have completed the Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The group was aiming to complete all three peaks, Ingleborough, Pen-Y-Ghent and Whernside, in 12 hours and, due to good walking weather, they all managed to finish in around 11 hours. In total they raised over £1,000 for Macmillan.

The group trained for around two months in preparation and although Mike admits that the day after he felt ‘shocking,’ the challenge was ‘well worth it!’

Mike, who finished in 10 hours and 50 minutes, said: “I took part in the challenge because I love walking and because it was for such an important cause. Everyone knows someone impacted by cancer and Macmillian perform such a vital role in our community.”

The challenge was organised and funded by Lila Thomas at Begbies Traynor. Other professionals who took part included: Stewart Case (Jones Harris), Chris Calvert (Rushtons Accountants), Owen McKenna (Harrison Drury), Richard Morgan (Handelsbanken), Lila Thomas and Jess Tomson (Begbies Traynor).
