Reflection on this year’s pride

Our firm has marked this year’s Pride Month with a range of activities and fundraising to raise awareness and valuable funds for the Rainbow Youth & Community Trust.

Our firm became aware of the work of the Rainbow Youth & Community Trust through our partnership with the UK Community Foundation and their local network of Community Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside.

The Rainbow Youth & Community Trust are an organisation who provide a safe social space for young people in the LGBTQI+ community and their work is aligned with the firms’ purpose project to improve access to financial education for the next generation.

Our main fundraising activities have been built around a series of wear it rainbow and cake and bake sales throughout our offices in the North West.

Danny Houghton, the firms ESG societal partner said:

“We’ve encouraged our people to show their support by donning their brightest rainbow attire and also getting creative while baking and selling rainbow cakes and treats.

“And we’re delighted to have raised £403 so far from our cross-office activities, a sum that will be doubled by the firm meaning in total we will be donating at least £806 to the Rainbow Youth & Community Trust.

“This money will go towards the Trust’s Money Matters campaign which provides free financial education for young members of the LGBTQI+ community and those with neurodivergent conditions, which aligns with our own purpose projects.”

In addition to fundraising, raising awareness to the issues and challenges facing the LGBTQI+ community are another key priority of Pride Month, and the firm held a Pride awareness session where speakers from the firm provided an insight into the history and roots of Pride and some of the challenges facing the LGBTQI+ community today.

Michelle Mullany, head of deal origination was one of the attendees at the Pride session and said:

“I really appreciated the session and that my colleagues took the time to share the history of the LGBTQI+ community which really hits home as to the challenges over the years. I appreciated the team sharing some practical tips on allyship and what colleagues can do to support colleagues too.”

The firms’ JustGiving page to raise funds for The Rainbow Youth & Community Trust will remain open for a little while longer, and if you would like to make a donation, you can do so here.
