Rail recruitment firm on track for rapid growth
A North West recruitment firm has quadrupled turnover in four years after developing a niche in the rail sector.
Intuitive Interim & Executive Search Ltd, founded by Nina Lockwood, was launched in 2013 and has grown turnover to £2m, and now employs a team of four.
The business has flourished by working in the placement of senior management positions with key players in the rail industry including Transport for Greater Manchester, Arriva Group, Nexus Tyne & Wear Metro, Chiltern Railways and Cross Country Trains.
Nina said: “I have, thrown myself right into the industry, reading everything available, attending conferences and speaking to anyone who would talk to me. In doing so, I’ve gained extensive knowledge and I’m very well networked in the industry as a result.
“Moving forward I’m aiming for more growth and to increase the profit margin in the business. Admittedly, there is some uncertainty in the rail industry in general due to changes to franchising and bidding processes, as well as how Brexit may affect the sector. However, as long as our services remain relevant and adaptable to the changing needs of the rail industry, I am confident that we will continue to grow.”
Intuitive receives financial and business growth advice from accountancy and business advisory firm MHA Moore and Smalley, as well as bookkeeping and payroll services. It has also given Nina advice regarding the structure and management of pensions and trusts.
Adam Parton, a partner at MHA Moore and Smalley said, “Nina’s commitment to the rail sector is inspiring. She is very well regarded in the sector and has real charisma, offering a very specialised personal service. Intuitive’s success is a reflection of this. The support we provide grows as her business grows – adding and supporting Nina as her business requirements change.”
Nina added: “You need a good team, as the old adage says ‘employ people that are better at doing something than you are’. You also need to keep it simple and just focus on what you do best. Most importantly, enjoy what you do and be passionate about how you do it.”
