Qualifications add up for accountancy four

A group of accountants at Kendal-based Moore and Smalley Accountants and Business Advisers are celebrating after all four achieved exam success and are on track to receive their professional qualifications.

Nicola Benson, Amy Braithwaite, Robert Clarke and Daniel George have each passed exams which will allow them to progress within the company and further their careers in accountancy and taxation.

Ian Clark, partner at Moore and Smalley said: “The training and development of our staff is a valuable investment which benefits both the company and our clients. Nicola, Amy, Robert and Daniel have all worked incredibly hard and the fact that all four have passed their exams is testament to their individual skills and dedication.

“It’s always pleasing to see our staff members develop as they progress their careers with Moore and Smalley.”

Daniel, who joined Moore and Smalley in 2008, will gain the globally recognised Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification.

The ACCA is renowned within the accountancy profession for its difficulty but Daniel, corporate services senior with the firm, has passed 13 exams through Manchester BPP College. The 14th and final exam will see him gain the qualification.

Nicola, who joined Moore and Smalley in 2011, completed her Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) exams at Kendal College and has now progressed onto studying for the Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA) qualification. She will take her ACA exams this coming June.

In her role within the corporate services team Nicola works on charity accounts, limited company accounts, management information and audits.

Robert has been awarded the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification, while Amy is just one exam away from qualifying. Both previously achieved their AAT through Kendal College.

Robert is involved in partnerships, sole trade accounts, complex farm accounts and tax returns, while Amy prepares self-assessment tax returns, income and expenditure accounts for sole traders, trust accounts and trust returns.
