Q&A with Jenny McCabe
Q1 How long have you been working in the accountancy field?
Since 1996 when I joined a small local firm in Widnes, Holland & Co.
Q2 What do you enjoy most about accountancy?
The way the financial information of a business can tell a story, I very much enjoy understanding a business and it’s industry. Most of all, as I am a people person, I love working with business owners and building a relation with them and ultimately be with them on their business journey.
Q3 Why Moore and Smalley?
I am passionate about working closely with clients and delivering excellent service. These, along with Moore & Smalley’s other values meant the firm was a natural fit for me.
Q4 What are you looking forward to the most about working for Moore and Smalley?
I’m excited to be joining the partnership and looking forward to being part of the team. Moore & Smalley have an exceptional reputation and a fantastic client base, and I’m keen to bring my years of experience to the firm.
Q5 What was your first job?
I had the obligatory paper round of a local weekly paper at 13. However, by the age of 15, I was working all day Saturday in a butchers. My first job of the morning was to clean all the jelly off the ham shanks, I don’t think it’s a smell I’ll ever forget! Then in the evening, I would work as a silver service waitress in a hotel restaurant. Both were great experiences and I definitely learned some life skills.
Q6 If you weren’t an accountant, what would your dream job be?
At school, I always wanted to be a commercial airline pilot. Unfortunately, being 5ft 2” meant when sat in the cockpit I wouldn’t be tall enough to reach the buttons and controls.
Q7 If any actor were to play you in a film of your life, who would it be and why?
A number of people have said I look like the actress in the Paranormal Activity films, Katie Featherston. I can see the likeness…
However I think I’d like Courtney Cox to play me as her I think I’m very like her Friends character, Monica, so I know she’d do me justice!
Q8 Favourite Sport? Hobbies?
I’m an avid Liverpool FC supporter and although not a season ticket holder, I can manage to get to a good number of home games each season. In the winter I play hockey for Fylde Hockey Club. I also love to travel, in particular, skiing in the French Alps and visiting family in Spain. I regularly attend gigs, with Noel Gallagher and Courteeners being some of my favourites.
Q9 If you could change one thing in Britain what would it be?
Q10 Three Things from Bucket List?
1) To compete in a Rally Car race
2) Learn to whistle
3) Write a crime novel
