Palace Shield – Player of the Month for September

As the Palace Shield season comes to its conclusion, the final Player of the Month has been awarded to Blake Buttar from Mawdesley Cricket Club (CC).

Taking part this year as an overseas amateur from New Zealand, Blake, who scored 136 runs and took 15 wickets in just six games, helped Mawdesley CC into second place for the season and therefore gain promotion into the Northern Premier League. The team enjoyed further success on the end of season tour to Malta where they won two out of their three games.

Team of the Month for September was awarded Fylde II in Division five with 61 points from the six games including one wash out.

The presentation took place at Mawdesley CC with Dan Rear (club chair) accepting the award on Blake’s behalf (following his return to New Zealand), being presented by Lee Salter, financial planning director at MHA Moore and Smalley.

On the presentation Lee said:

“Massive congratulations to Blake on his award, it’s been a wonderful season and a great achievement.

“We look forward to what next season will bring.”

MHA Moore and Smalley have a long-rooted association with the Palace Shield having sponsored the award for 32 years.
