Local business owners feeling positive following Autumn statement

The changes announced during the Autumn statement have left the majority of businesses feeling optimistic, according to a survey that we conducted online. The poll discovered that two thirds of business owners have since felt a positive impact on their businesses following the Chancellors announcement.

So what changes have left businesses feeling this sense of positivity? Could it perhaps be the Small Business Rate Relief which gives 100% relief against business rates on properties with a rateable value or £6,000 or less?

Whilst for the most-part businesses feel positive, there were also still a number of businesses who expressed their dismay, this could suggest that the effects depend upon the nature of the business whether that be sector, size, or industry specific.

Tony Medcalf, partner at Moore and Smalley commented: “The findings from the survey are a really good indicator of the current attitude and up-beat outlook within the world of business. Business owners seem to be positive and hopeful which is a great sign of things to come. Such optimism is resulting in more transactional work and businesses that I am dealing with are seriously looking to the future with plans for growth, expansion or development overseas”.
