Is Christmas really the season to be jolly for business owners?

48% of professionals across Lancashire agree that the most challenging aspect of Christmas is the adverse effect it has on productivity.

Christmas isn’t necessarily the most wonderful time of the year for businesses across the North West according to a survey conducted by Moore and Smalley Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers. The news comes as figures reveal that poor productivity is the most detrimental and challenging part of the festive season, beating other issues such as holiday requests and appropriate conduct.

Productivity can wane as the party spirit takes a hold and it is important for business owners to engage with their employees to counteract the negative trend.

Financial Planning Consultant at Moore and Smalley commented: ‘The findings from the survey are extremely insightful and it highlights the importance of ensuring employee engagement remains a priority. Having an engaged workforce can be the difference in maximising productivity without suppressing Christmas cheer, and ensuring Christmas doesn’t spell trouble for business owners across the region.’
