Celebrating graduate success at the Insight to Business Awards

Now in its seventh year, the Insight to Business Awards is organised by Liverpool Hope University as a way of recognising the hard work and achievements of that years second and third year students.

Each year a number of companies from various sectors sponsor each award in the form of a professional placement, and for the second year running we sponsored the MHA Moore and Smalley Accountancy Award. The nominees were shortlisted to three exceptional candidates and the 2023 winner was Chloe Wetton. Chloe is currently in her second year at Liverpool Hope University studying Accounting & Finance and Psychology and will now join the firm for a two-week placement during the summer.

Chloe was crowned the winner at the awards ceremony which took place on the beautiful Hope Park campus on Thursday 4 May 2023, and was awarded by our Talent Acquisition Lead and Recruitment Administrator, Jessica McDonagh and Sophie Harwood.

Jessica said:

“It is wonderful to be able to celebrate the hard work of students in this way. It is really important for the firm to be able to invest in people by sponsoring such an award.

“We were delighted to announce Chloe as the winner and very much look forward to welcoming her to MHA Moore and Smalley for her two-week placement later in the year, where she will earn valuable practical experience of what it is like to work at an accountancy firm.”

The winner of last year’s award, Lauren Richardson has remained at the firm following her two-week placement and is now one year into her role as an assistant within our healthcare services team. On her reflections over the past year, Lauren said:

“My two-week placement provided an insight into the world of accounting and the career I was studying towards. Everybody was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions throughout the placement.

“At the end of my placement, I was offered a role at the firm and now work within the Nottingham office. Here, I am able to work flexibly between my studies and work, which is really helpful for me and allows such peace of mind as I work towards my qualification..

“I am treated as part of the team and am given responsible jobs to undertake as both part of a team and individually. I know that I am in a career with a firm where I enjoy going to work and am learning something new every day.”

We are currently looking to recruit a number of vacancies, including graduate placements at offices across the Northwest.
