Our event will focus global state of the mergers and acquisitions market and how that impacts the North West.

Our mission is to help finance professionals continue their personal development by drawing on the expertise of technical finance specialists, keynote speakers and through peer-to-peer learning and networking.

What this event will cover:

At this event we welcome Simon Wright from The Prince’s Trust, he will discuss issues around employability and talk about how The Prince’s Trust are playing their part to help employers through the tough conditions that exist in today’s employment market.

Next on the floor will be a panel of speakers who will be sharing their thoughts on the global state of the mergers and acquisitions market and how that impacts the North West.

Finally, we will end with a Q&A session where attendees will have an opportunity to direct their questions to our presenters.

Our panel

Simon Wright, Head of Business Development, The Princes Trust

Simon Wright is Head of Business Development at The Prince’s Trust. Based in Manchester, Simon is responsible for leading the fundraising and corporate partnerships strategy in the North, covering Employability, Education and Enterprise. He has recently worked with JD Sports Group, NBrown, John Lewis Partnership and BAM Construction to connect them to supporting 11–30-year-olds who the Prince’s Trust engage into skill development experiences and employment outcomes.

Michael Ryan FCCA, Finance Director, Healthpoint Ltd

Michael qualified in audit in 1992 before moving into industry a few years later. Operating mainly at Board Level he has worked for many SMEs in the North West, before settling at Healthpoint in 2014. He was awarded NWFA Financial Controller of the Year in 2016 and was shortlisted for best Northern FD of the year (<£25m) at the 2019 Northern Finance Awards. Whilst at Healthpoint, he has led 2 transactions, one a part refinance, with an exiting shareholder being replaced by a PE investment, and in Dec 21 the 100% sale of Healthpoint to a large overseas trade buyer.

Keith Melling, Head of Corporate, Napthens

Keith heads up Napthens’ Corporate team. As a highly experienced, award winning corporate lawyer, Keith is a member of the Executive Board and brings commercial expertise in advising and working with businesses at board level. Keith has developed a high profile within the Lancashire and regional business community, handling a wide range of corporate and commercial work for clients including private equity backed and owner managed businesses, banks and financial institutions, individual shareholders, venture capitalists and management teams.

Keith is a highly regarded corporate lawyer and is ranked in legal services guide ‘The Legal 500’ as a leading individual. He has particular expertise in advising clients in the healthcare, motor retail, transport, manufacturing and financial services sectors.

In 2022, Keith was named on the North West Business Insider ‘North West Professionals Power List’.

Andrew Feeke, Corporate Finance Partner, MHA Moore and Smalley

Andrew heads up the Manchester office and joined the practice in 2019 as Corporate Finance partner.

Andrew has put his degree in Money, Banking & Finance to good use throughout his career, accumulating extensive experience across a broad spectrum of projects including; management buy outs, acquisitions, disposals, refinancing, fundraising and cash-out transactions. He also has significant experience of working with private equity houses on a range of deals.

He has extensive knowledge of owner-managed business, allowing him to proactively advise clients and always deliver the best outcomes. Andrew’s wide variety of experience has allowed him to gain involvement across many sectors, with specialisms including healthcare and manufacturing.

Stephen Gregson, Corporate Finance Director, MHA Moore and Smalley

Stephen joined the MHA Moore and Smalley team from KPMG Corporate Finance in Manchester in 2002. To date he has advised businesses on mergers and acquisitions, fundraising and strategic planning across a wide range of sectors including waste management, haulage, construction, engineering and wealth management financial services.

At MHA Moore and Smalley Corporate Finance he has continued to focus upon advising owner managed businesses on strategic direction, mergers and acquisitions, and fundraising.

Joe Reid, Business Development Director, Barclays

Since April 2019 Joe has been Business Development Director in the Barclays Large Corporate Team with a specific focus on Consumer and Healthcare Businesses. Joe is responsible for designing and delivering the teams National Business Development strategy and the origination and completion of his own new to bank opportunities.

Prior to that Joe spent 17 years at NatWest, latterly spending 5 years as a Director in the Portfolio Management Team where he was responsible for leading Credit Transactions for existing and new clients.
